The Luxurama Theatre stood as an icon of Cape Town’s turbulent history. Allistair Izobell’s hit-tribute show of 2015 is back by popular demand for a short time only at the Baxter Theatre. Be quick Cape Town, it’s only showing from Thursday, 1 September to Saturday, 17 September 2016.
Written and directed by Alistair Izobell and Lara Foot (CEO and Creative Director of The Baxter Theatre), the production promises the same quality of last year’s performance, with a few fun additions.
The show will feature songs written or originally performed by international and local artists that performed at the Luxurama in its hay-day. The international acts include Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield and Engelbert Humperdink, and more.
The Luxurama Theatre was the first theatre to host concerts or shows with an integrated audience during Apartheid, making it an important historical landmark. There is a reason that it is labelled one of the ’grand old dames of cinema’ in Cape Town.
