Red Paddle Winter Ocean Series in Hout Bay

The seven-part winter series of paddling races gets underway from June

Despite the winter weather that Cape Town is notorious for, ocean lovers and competitive souls can still find water-based activities to compete in. For example, Red Paddle South Africa will be hosting a series of seven paddling events over the coming months. Starting on Sunday, 12 June 2016, the bi-weekly races all take place at Hout Bay beach and the Winter Ocean Series culminates on Sunday, 4 September 2016.

The events are open to Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP), SurfSki and Prone participants of all ages. There will be a choice of distance for each discipline – the SurfSki races are 6-km and 9-km, the Prone races are 3-km and 6-km, and the SUP races are also 3-km and 6-km. For less experienced paddlers, there will also be Funpaddle and SUPyoga events to enter.
