Proe Paarl Wine Festival

Come get a taste of the Cape Winelands at this annual wine tasting extravaganza!

With summer here to stay and wine festivals abound, tourists and locals alike can sample the luscious beverage from some of the best wine farms found in the Western Cape.

If you’re a fan of these intoxicating events, one calendar highlight not to miss is the third Proe Paarl Wine Festival, happening at a range of amazing venues in Paarl from Friday, 16 November to Sunday, 18 December 2016.

Paarl is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, and that honour comes with a rich history and dynamic cultural background. The Proe Paarl Wine Festival celebrates what makes this charming town, with its oak-lined streets and awe-inspiring scenery, a must–see for any visitor. Those who attend can look forward to a jam-packed programme, from wine tastings to great food and plenty of activities for outdoor enthusiasts.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2016 PROE PAARL WINE FESTIVAL

LUSCIOUS VINO: This festival promises to have a selection of wines from 15 wine farms in the surrounding wine route. Visitors will receive a tasting booklet and a complimentary wine glass on arrival, ensuring that wine sampling is hassle-free.

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD: Hungry attendees will not be disappointed as the festival promises delish food from some of the top restaurants in Paarl. Expect a variety of culinary delights, including bobotie at Volksmond Coffee Shop, bubbles and braai at the Grande Roche Hotel, as well as Mellasat Pop-Up Restaurant and others. There will also be plenty of kid-friendly foods available at the venue, from yummy hotdogs to sweet candyfloss.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:  This time around, those feeling a bit sporty can get explore Paarl and all its finery.  Look out for the Run the Vines happening on Friday, 16 December, a 5-km, 10-km and 17-km run that goes through the Dvine Estate.

FUN FOR THE KIDS: Energetic little ones will have a blast thanks to the activities on the programme for keeping them occupied. Kids can spend hours on the bouncy jumping castle, get their faces painted like their favourite cartoon character or superhero, and eat some yummy kid-friendly treats. Bring the whole family along and get a taste for the Cape Winelands on this perfect family day out.
