According to musical glossaries, the word divo translates to “a male lead tenor or singer”. Marmalade Productions intends on bringing exactly that with an array of local and international talent for the Divos 2014 concert set to wow crowds at the GrandWest Grand Arena on Saturday, 25 October 2014.
Headlining this year’s event is reggae and funk legend Phil Fearon. Phil got his start in the 1970s with the pioneering reggae group Hott Wax, but also gained popularity for his later work with Phil Fearon & Galaxy in the 1980s. The group reached the UK Top 10 with favourites like, ‘What Do I Do?’ and ‘Everybody’s Laughing”. The R&B and funk singer will be singing hits from his extensive discography and from his album Phil Fearon & Galaxy - Ain't Nothing But A Party: The 12" Anthology.
The local line-up has some of the hottest talent (eye candy for days!) that the beautiful Mother City has to offer, and features the likes of Garth Taylor, Mario Ogle and many others.
The organisers also intend on announcing another surprise act in the upcoming weeks.
