Paws Thru the Vine Charity Dog Walk in Stellenbosch

Take your favourite woof for a walk through the verdant vineyards of Eikendal to raise money for the Animal Anti-Cruelty League

Grab your best friend, get your boots on and head to the Stellenbosch hills for the biannual Paws Thru the Vine Charity Dog Walk at Eikendal Vineyards on Sunday, 17 May 2015. This is your chance to take your favourite four-legged friend for a stroll while also helping to raise money for other animals in need of fur-ever homes and medical treatment from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League’s (AACL) hospital and clinic.

This is a beautiful time to be out in the Winelands – the vines are donning their autumnal shades of crimson-gold and the air is crisp, with shards of sunshine piercing through cloudy skies. Eikendal is known as one of the region’s most scenic farms, with its spectacular vistas of the valley and its two sizeable dams for water-loving hounds to frolic in.

Bring your whole family – kids, tail-waggers et al – and spend the day waltzing through the Winelands, watching the adorable Strut Your Mutt Adoption Dog Show (you might just find a new little furball to open your home and heart to), dancing to the DJs music and enjoying the  antics of the Western Cape Agility Handlers Club dogs.

It’s also your chance to stock up on Royal Canin as all proceeds from these purchases go straight to the AACL, so get your pampered pooch some extra snacks. If you’re feeling peckish, there will be an array of food and drinks available for humans from Hippo’s Diner.

TICKETS FOR THE 2015 PAWS THRU THE VINE DOG WALK IN STELLENBOSCH

If you pre-register yourself and your pooch(es) beforehand, tickets cost R40 per person and R25 per pet. Children aged five to 16 years-old pay R5p/p, while entry for kids under five is free. You can pre-register by completing an entry form from Aacl.org.za/images/stories/CPT-Branch/OFFICIAL__Entry_Form.pdf and sending said form and confirmation of payment to assistant@aacl-ct.co.za. Alternatively, buy tickets on the day for R50 per person and R30 per pet. The first 100 entries will receive Royal Canin goodie bags. 

Registration starts at 7:15am and the walk commences at 8am.
