New Year’s Eve at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch

Spend your last few hours of 2015 in jovial spirits at this scintillating soiree in the Cape Winelands

Usher in 2016 with a touch of simple, farm-style magic at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch this New Year’s Eve. Staying true to their farm-to-table philosophy, the estate is hosting a family-friendly dinner at their newly renovated Werf with hearty food, live music and more.

The NYE gathering starts at 8pm with a welcome glass of Spier MCC and snacks. From there, party-goers can sit down at the communal tables and tuck into a charmingly rustic three-course dinner (see menu below). Guests can also spend a few moments getting to know the chef at the interaction station dedicated to making the evening a more personable and intimate affair.

Aside from the delicious spread, revellers can additionally enjoy upbeat songs from the six-piece band Mixed Flava, who will perform under the Bedouin tent until 1:30am.

Since this is a family-friendly New Year’s Eve party, kids are most welcome to spend the night celebrating the New Year with their families. There will be a kiddies’ area inside the Manor house that will be supervised by the hotel’s experienced child-minders. While mom and dad dance the night away, children can get comfy and settle in for a movie screening.

For those who don’t want to stumble home, the hotel has a limited number of rooms available for guests. Please enquire with the hotel for room rates beforehand.

MENU FOR THE 2015-2016 NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY AT SPIER WINE FARM IN STELLENBOSCH 

Arrival:

• Summer salad jars with ingredients freshly picked from Farmer John’s Kitchen Garden
• Fresh shucked oysters with lemon and mignonette
• Make your own stokbrood with pâtés, organic honey and flavoured butters

Starters:

• Spier egg, summer asparagus and rocket salad with truffle infused dressing
• Smoked Franschhoek trout with pickled cucumber and caper berries
• Chicken, duck and pancetta terrine with brandied prune chutney
• A selection of cured meats and olives with mustard and pickled grapes

Mains:

• Roast sweet potato wedges with lemongrass crème fraiche
• Caramelised onion and garlic tart with anchovy and thyme
• Grilled artichokes with lemon, herb oil and roasted chickpeas
• Marinated peppers with pecorino and a baby herb salad
• Whole fried angelfish with lemon caper butter and green olives
• Orange and marjoram roasted farm chicken with butter and garlic
• Wood-fired pasture-reared rib eye with fresh herbs and green Madagascan peppercorn sauce

Deserts:

• Fresh berry pavlova with soft whipped cream and passion fruit curd
• Chocolate mousse cups made from layers of decadent chocolate
• Fresh fruit platters with soft vanilla whipped cream

Midnight snacks:

• Farmhouse cheese selection with preserves, crackers, chutney and roast nuts

TICKETS TO THE 2015-2016 NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY AT SPIER WINE FARM IN STELLENBOSCH

The three-course dinner will cost R900p/p for adults (includes a welcome drink and snack, Spier Signature Wines, soft drinks and a gift to take home). Children under the age of 12 pay R250p/p and the price includes access to the Milk and Cookies bar as well as the movie screening. The party starts at 8pm and runs until 1am the next morning.
