Forget the powder paint! Mzansi’s most electric night event, the Neon Run, is back again to light up the Mother City with a luminous, LED-laden fiesta on Saturday, 18 April 2015 at the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town.
The 5-km race calls on everyone from the youngest of tykes to the greyest of grannies to don neon accessories and body paint and run, walk, cycle or skate through a colourful course. Along the route revellers will go through LED worlds and ‘Glow Zones’ where they’ll be lit up and get to marvel at the luminescent yellows, pinks and greens.
It’s not all about the exercise though (and you can forego it all together if physical exertion is not your bag); the Neon Run ends with a serious jam featuring acts like Nic Hamman and DJ Fresh.
You can choose to take your time ooh-ing and aah-ing at all the trippy light displays along the route or sprint to the end so you can get the glowing good times started ASAP, but either way, you’re likely to find that this is the most fun you can have in the dark. And with food stalls and a bar for those over the age of 18, the Neon Run is set to be another calendar highlight for those who can’t get enough of the kooky colour carnivals.
On your marks, get set… GLOW!
