Native Young at Dizzys Live Music Fridays in Camps Bay

Rock out with Native Young at a popular Camps Bays hotspot

Dizzys, along Camps Bay’s so-called Platinum Mile, is where you want to be on the night of Friday, 22 September 2017 because that’s when Native Young will be performing their unique brand of “Kasi pop” as part of Live Music Fridays at the popular pub and restaurant.

Native Young was started by guitarist Yannick Meyer and fellow band members include guitarist Mohau Moahloli, marimbist Mark Sikele, drummer and marimbist Vuyani Dyoli, and bassist Nick Catto. They won the 2017 SAMA Award for Best Alternative Album, which is no small achievement, and anyone who has experienced their music will certainly agree that it is well deserved. Asked to describe Native Young’s sound, Yannick answered: “It’s a constantly evolving tapestry of culture, emotion and melody”.

The band has its origins in the garage of a Gugulethu marimba maker, with a sound that is reflective of South Africa’s diversity. Through their music, Native Young challenge cultural barriers through music and lyrics, as they merge English, Xhosa, Sotho and Zulu in their songs.

Native Young is best known for their hit songs, Crystal Lion, Children of the Sun, Kings, and Thandiwe.

Expect to be blown away by the unique sound of Native Young at Dizzys. The restaurant and pub offers a non-smoking lounge, which is the ideal spot for sitting down to get a taste of their oh-so-popular thin base, woodfired pizzas. Be sure to grab a drink from their great selection of craft beer on tap, including BrewDog (UK), Aegir Project, Stellenbrau, Windhoek, and Fuller’s (UK). Party-goers can expect the best of Camps Bay, all in one hotspot, making Dizzys the perfect spot for a Friday night out.
