Mitchell's Plain Music Festival

Celebrate top talent at this creative cultural music festival in the Cape Flats

Mother City music lovers are in for a treat when the annual Mitchell’s Plain Music Festival (MPMF) sounds off at the Westridge Gardens from Friday, 25 to Sunday, 27 November 2016.

Billed as the only music festival in the Cape Flats, this sharp-sharp shindig aims to re-establish a collective pride in the Mitchell’s Plain and greater Cape Flats areas while showcasing a range of both nationally known South African – and more specifically Capetonian – musicians and young, aspiring artists. Invested in the community, the live music fiesta will also employ interns and youngsters interested in joining the music and events industries to assist, perform at and help organise the three-day jamboree.

The line-up for this year’s festival has yet to be released but if the last few years are anything to go by, it should be a special selection of lekker local talent. Blaq Pearl, Can Skylark, Black Ties, Emo Adams and The Rockets were all on the bill for 2014, so keep checking the Mitchellsplainfestival.com site for updates on this year’s performers, or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

Aside from showcasing a selection of established and emerging artists, the festival also aims to highlight the multiple Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) in the vicinity through numerous stalls traversing industries such as travel, décor, health, fashion and more. There will be close to 35 different food and beverage vendors present on the day offering a smorgasbord of different cuisines to satisfy patrons.

There’ll also be a number of random competitions and giveaways alongside some fun and family-friendly events such as the baby contest, glamorous granny contest, motor shows, comedy shows and business presentations. Kids can anticipate an array of thrilling carnival rides, and there’ll also be an awareness and support initiative through the HIV/Aids Awareness Programs for adults.

Be part of one of the Mother City’s most vibrant communities and experience the best of the Cape Flats and Cape Town’s music scene at this upbeat cultural extravaganza.
