Material(i)sation Group Exhibition at Art in the Yard

Let your creativity and ideas materialise with this evocative exhibition of artistry

Defined as ‘the creation or appearance of matter from unknown sources’, in the journey of an idea materialisation is the chapter between formalisation (to define something) and evaluation (to determine the significance of something). In the journey of the artist, it’s the conceptual thought behind every creative expression – the exploration of the new, whether this be subject matter or an on-going evolution in medium and technique.

In this case, Material(i)sation is the name of a new group exhibition at Art in the Yard in Franschhoek, which starts on Saturday, 16 January and runs until Monday, 8 February 2016. The show aims to introduce a local and international audience to some of the astounding works created by the featured artists, who are all currently involved in exploring new directions and themes.

The participating artists are as follows: Frans Smit, Joshua Miles, Judy Bumstead, Greta McMohan, Marna Hattingh, Dave Robertson, Niël Jonker, Vanessa Berlein, Chris Denovan, Mark Hilltout, Chris Diedericks, Annelie Venter, Miranda Combrinck, Annelie van der Vyver, Cedric Vanderlinden, Kelly John Gough, Hubert Barichievy, Jan Schutte, Judy Woodborne, Michele Davidson, Madelein Marincowitz, Susan Grundlingh, Johannes du Plessis, Skye Burns, Corlie de Kock, Jenny Ord, Theo Paul Vorster and Adriaan Diedericks.
