Lace up for Cancer Fun Run in Cape Town

Dress to impress and run to raise awareness and funds for a good cause

If you’re planning to work your booty off to get fit in January then this fun run should give you a little bit of extra motivation. After all no fun run is as worthwhile as a funds run, particularly when said proceeds go to institutions that assist and support people affected by cancer.

This World Cancer Day, (Thursday, 4 February 2016), lace up to raise awareness, whilst also enjoying the scenic surrounds of the pretty Green Point area. Tickets are available via Quicket.co.za and the race commences from the Green Point Lighthouse in Mouille Point at 6:30pm. For more information phone +27(0)21 557 0213.

You can choose between taking a delightful 5km stroll along the coast or opt for the slightly pacier 10km fun run, which follows a similar but extended route. There’ll be plenty of people shouting for you as you run, along with refreshment stations and a face painter and photographer to capture a snap of your crazy outfit. That’s right, there’s a dress code! It’s crazy and colourful, so make sure you go all out and make your gear extra wild and wonderful.

The event is hosted by the Hospice Palliative Care Association and the Cancer Alliance, with beneficiaries that include CANSA, CHOC, Love Your Nuts, People Living With Cancer and the Sunflower Fund. All of these organisations do phenomenal work and are truly worthy of support.

Aside from the run, there’ll also be live performances to keep runners and spectators entertained, along with food trucks and plenty of spot prize giveaways. The first 200 participants to finish the race will receive medals, but the real point of the night is to give back by providing those affected by cancer with empathy and support.
