Be transported back to the glitz and glamour of the 20s with this Gatsby-inspired affair

Picture the dazzling parties of Gatsby – the effortless extravagance, alluring elegance and over-the-top entertainment. Imagine beautiful woman in sashaying cocktail dresses and young men in suits; flirting, flying, dizzy on Champagne and the intoxicating need to let loose and dance. This is the Roaring 20s, an era when everything is possible.

For one night only, Iris House and the deVere Group will transport guests back to the time of Daisy and Jay, with an elegant affair intended to raise funds for the incredible work that Iris House does. Guests can relax and anticipate a night of revelry, luxury and world-class entertainment at the Table Bay Hotel on Saturday, 27 August at 6pm.

Dress to impress with ‘The Great Gatsby’ theme in mind – think flapper dresses, glitz, glam and tuxedoes if you’re feeling inspired. The night will be guided by MC Danilo Acquisto from Afternoon Express, and there’ll be bubbles and oysters to greet attendees upon arrival. Take some glamorous photos in the photo booth and mingle with guests of honour Helen Zille and Minister Alan Winde.  

At 7pm, take your seat in the exquisitely transformed ballroom and enjoy the opening act whilst indulging in red and white wines and the first of three exceptional courses composed by executive chef Jocelyn Myers-Adams. Dinner will comprise all manner of gastronomic delights, including smoked Franschhoek salmon trout terrine and Saldanha Bay mussel cocktails for starters, followed by marrow-crusted beef fillet and thyme potato fondant for mains (or a vegetarian option upon request), with a grand buffet of desserts to end off the dining extravaganza in style. Think black forest cake, sticky toffee pudding, British bakewell tart, trifle, strawberry cheesecake and other wickedly indulgent treats.

Following dinner, there’ll be an auction with various beautiful items to bid on, and then dancing will commence with toe-tapping tunes from the headline act. All the proceeds from the night will go to Iris House Children’s Hospice so that the group can continue its amazing work in the community, providing free care services for special needs children with life threatening conditions.
