Hot Water Concert at the Cape Farmhouse Restaurant

Catch some talented local bands live at this intimate venue

Come one, come all and enjoy the tranquillity of nature while you work your way into a melodically induced folly. Local bands Hot Water alongside Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions are fixing to rock Scarborough with their authentically South African, diversely upbeat sound on Saturday, 3 December 2016 at the Cape Farmhouse Restaurant.

Hot Water is a collective of multi-cultural South African homegrown musicians, who deliver an original experience, displaying cultural diversity both lyrically and in identity. They interchange between English and isiXhosa to wonderful effect. The band manages to fuse the sounds of classic blues-rock, traditional African flare and of course the soothing, upbeat melodies of jazz-funk, a combination of sounds that creates a feel reminiscent of ska-reggae particularly growing in popularity among Capetonians. It is the perfect music to lift spirits and delight ears.

Yet another magical, South African band, Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions will be keeping the vibrancy of the spectacle well and truly alive. Also up-tempo in nature and displaying the diversity that is the rainbow nation. This collective of musicians emit a sound that will pierce not only your ears, but your soul with some incredible lyrics as Ben Dey majestically sings, sweetly and soulfully to the classic acoustic sound of The Concrete Lions. It’s the perfect music to wind down to after sunset, while singing along, dancing and laughing, it’s sure to be nothing short of tranquil and intimate.

The Farmhouse restaurant is idyllically placed in a lovely valley surrounded by mountains, meadows and a little Koi pond. It’s not overly fancy and is the perfect place to host a laidback concert of this particular mood, away from the confluence of the city and suburbs. There is plenty of space for those who will be in attendance outside on the grass, basking in the summer sun or inside in the snugness of the historic building. The building is mnemonic of the Dutch style architecture found on farmsteads in the early 19th century to add to the culture of the occasion. The menu inevitably draws inspiration from many classic South African favourites, ranging from delectable smoked snoek samosas to elegant calamari Patagonia or perhaps some fresh fruit salad with ice cream for those in need of revitalization. No matter your preference, there are plenty of other choices on this humble-fine dining menu for the palates pleasure.
