Harry Potter Quiz Night at Knead Bakery

I solemnly swear that you’ll get up to no good!

Harry Potter is what all children dream to be true; they exist in a world of magic, mysterious creatures, momentous adventures and unique knick-knacks! On Friday, 9, Saturday 10, and Friday 16 June 2017, Knead at Palmyra Junction, in collaboration with Quiz Nights SA, are hosting a Harry Potter extravaganza aimed to test even the biggest potterheads knowledge.

The quiz will focus on the films instead of the books, much to many fans’ horror. The movies obvious carry some inaccuracies, but I think we can all agree that Daniel, Rupert and Emma are just about the most convincing Harry, Ron and Hermione anyone will ever see. They grew up on screen and you can bet your left arm that the quiz will pick up on even the tiniest detail. What colour was the sock that Harry (in a roundabout kind of way) presented to Dobby? If you’ve got no idea, best get watching!  There never really needs to be an excuse to have a Harry Potter marathon, but this is a good excuse if ever there was one.

We often say that things will sell out fast and that you should hurry to secure your place, but in this case you really should. At the time of writing this piece the Friday, 9 and Friday, 16 June 2017 editions were sold out completely. Clear your calendars and make sure you book your spot at the Saturday, 10 May 2017 edition; quizzes on the world of Hogwarts and beyond don’t come around everyday!

In case the organisers are related to old Voldy, and decide to be really mean, we’ve found some pretty obscure info on the Harry Potter series. Have a gander because you never know if these facts might come up. See for yourself (alohomora):

  1. Voldemort was 71 years old when he died at the Battle of Hogwarts (he was born on 31 December 1926).

  2. Everyone’s favourite Potions Master (Severus Snape, for those people who shouldn’t attend the quiz) was based on JK Rowling’s actual chemistry teacher.

  3. When Arthur Weasley and Harry enter the Ministry of Magic through the London phone box, Arthur types 6-2-4-4-2 into the keypad, which rather amazingly, spells MAGIC.

  4. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, first read for the parts of Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, before he was finally cast as the villain we hated and loved at the same time.

  5. Many of the paintings that lined the walls next to the ever changing staircases at Hogwarts were based on cast and crew members - There is a particularly funny example of the Production Designer (Stuart Craig) wearing a hilarious purple starched coat.

  6. There were over 588 set’s built in total to make all eight movies in the series.

  7. Over 40 kittens were used for a lovely sounding ‘kitten photoshoot’ to create the images of the fluffy darlings on the plates in Umbridge’s office at Hogwarts!

  8. The doors on the Gringotts set actually work - it took three months alone to build the door to Bellatrix's vault.
