Greenpop’s Cool as Folk Concert

Jeremy Loops and Toya Delazy headline this annual treevolution jamboree’s evening of peace, nature, music, revolution and more

Celebrating our enviroment, reconnecting people with the planet and sizzling tunes are the name of the game when tree-planting enterprise Greenpop hosts its 10th concert in Cape Town! The annual Cool as Folk shindig springs to life at The Side Show (formerly the Fez) on Saturday, 18 April 2015  with a rocking folk music line-up and a night of debauchery in support of the mean, green reforestation initiative.

This time around, the event will have indie folk musician (and co-founder of Greenpop) Jeremy Loops and pop star Toya Delazy headlining the affair. For those not in the know, Jeremy recently released his debut album, Trading Change, in 2014 to critical acclaim, while SAMA award-winning artist Toya Delazy will be singing material off her latest release, Ascension.

This year, attendees can even make getting to the event a fun and eco-friendly affair as Greenpop will be hosting an organised cycle/skate/walk to the venue. Groups can meet at 6pm at Church Square and be part of a moving party while making their way along a set route, which features refreshment stops, to the party. Do note, there will be secure valet bike parking at the event.  

Not to mention, with help from Jägermeister and Red Bull, the party is set to be a well-lubricated one.  Tuck into yummy treats from local foodie services like Chameleon Food Truck and Pizza Piaggo serving veggie fare. As per usual, the evening will feature tons of competitions, an impressive sensory experience coutersy of Houdt and.

The whole purpose of this enviro-lover’s shindig is to promote eco-friendly living, and as a bonus, all proceeds from the event will go to further some of Greenpop’s developing projects.

ABOUT GREENPOP

Founded in September 2010, Greenpop plants trees at schools, crèches, old-age homes and more in communities and in deforested areas in an effort to raise environmental awareness and combat climate change. In just five years, this social enterprise (it’s devoted to reforestation and urban greening), has planted more than 48,000 trees, benefitting 140,000 people in nearly 350 different locations. Aside from the positive effect tree planting has on counteracting carbon footprints, it also has a huge social benefit, bringing different cultures, races, creeds and ages together for a common goal.
