With summer very slowly drawing to a close, you will soon see the end of the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts until they return in October/November. On Sunday, 26 March 2017, Grassy Spark and The Rudimentals will take over the gardens and play beats so funky that Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden will seem like party central.
The Rudimentals, the original South African reggae band, have been jammin’ since the year 2000, and they show no signs of slowing down. This nine piece-reggae collective are currently on their #WeAreOne Tour which started in December of 2016 and ends in April of 2017. They have been spreading their up-beat, lekker local music all over town this summer, hitting up Farmhouse Rocks and now they’re heading to everyone’s favourite outdoor venue!
Grassy Spark, again a local band, formed in 2012 and have become hugely popular in Cape Town. Their fusion sound between ska and reggae was created by Yanick Bathfield, Josh Riley, Lawrence Jaeger, Kevin Kok, Murray Buitendag, Chad Hendricks and Simon Ackermann.
Join in the fun at Kirstenbosch with these local lads. Pack yourself a picnic, cram your bests into the car and enjoy the fading summer sunshine at our stunningly beautiful botanical garden.
