Fynbos Forage and Feast

Foodies and plant lovers unite!

Fynbos is one of the biggest attractions that the Cape landscape has to offer, so why not learn more about it? The Good Hope Gardens Nursery is playing host to a series of fynbos centred courses, which run from 10am to 2pm, on Saturday, 23 and Saturday, 30 July 2016. The event  will also be hosted in August on Saturday, 13 and Saturday, 27 August 2016.

The course includes a half-day of food based activities. The experience will focus on using Fynbos, edible floral foods, wild herbs and organically grown veggies in your cooking. You’ll explore the gardens and forage for indigenous edibles while learning which floral foods to pick, how to pick them, use them, grow them and even some of their medicinal properties. 

Thereafter, the group will head to the foraging classroom kitchen to prepare and enjoy a scrumptious vegetarian lunch using the ingredients foraged. 

This experience is a learning one, and it is an opportunity for all those passionate about sustainable food practices and utilising what the land gives us. These events are aimed at adults, but children are also welcome. Remember to bring comfy walking shoes, a raincoat and sunhat (it’s Cape Town, and even the weather forecasters can’t guarantee the sun). Also don't forget your camera, these memories are ones you'll want to capture!

At the end of the day guests will receive all the lunchtime recipes and if that still isn’t enough, the nursery will give guests a 10% off discount on indigenous plants for your garden. All guests will also receive two indigenous edible pot plants to take home and start cooking with!
