Get ready to lace up those running shoes and bound along beautiful Table Mountain trails because the Crazy Store Table Mountain Challenge gets off to a racing start on Saturday, 10 September 2016. If you are interested in other races in and around Cape Town, then check out our guide to running events in the Western Cape.
The event, which kicks off at the Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck sports field, takes trail runners through the majestic Table Mountain reserve, and features various race options to tackle the 44-km route. So whether you’re an advanced or rookie racer, team-player or solo sportsman, the Crazy Store Table Mountain Challenge has something for you.
The full route is 44-km and features three separate legs of 12-km, 11-km and 19-km respectively. You can choose to run the entire 44-km as a solo entrant, or just one of the legs if you enter with a team. Please note that the third leg has specific entrance requirements and equipment, so familiarise yourself with these before you enter.
This year’s challenge also features the kiddies’ dash so that the whole family can be a part of the action on the day. There’s also a Lite version of the race planned, details of which will be released at a later stage.
Entrants can look forward to some awesome prizes including First Ascent gifts, Crazy Store vouchers and race entries to next year’s event. The top three runners from each category will also receive prizes.
Note that while many of the races are sold out, substitutions are still available at a charge of R100p/p. So keep an eye on the website for chances to enter. Substitutions are only being permitted until Wednesday, 7 September 2016.
