Christmas Eve Dinner at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa

Wine, dine and be merry at this exclusive oceanside Camps Bay restaurant

Those looking for a bit of decadence this December may want to spend their festive season at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa’s Azure Restaurant, where they can enjoy all the pomp and circumstance that goes with an experience at this five-star establishment.

Flanked by the Mother City’s beloved mountain and situated on the edge of the Atlantic, this exclusive eatery is offering merrymakers a gourmet four-course Christmas Eve dinner in a beautiful setting.

The traditional meal kicks off with a welcome glass of eggnog before giving way to the festive set menu. Starters include an oxtail potsticker with mushroom and ginger broth, wild garlic and pickled shimeji (a kind of mushroom), and hamhock terrine with confit baby potatoes, slaphaksteentjies (Cape onion salad), compressed apple, mustard-crème and pork popcorn.

The main dish includes either Chalmar beef fillet en croûte with mushroom ragout, spinach, roasted carrot, truffle and potato espuma (foam) and bone marrow jus, or Mauritian sea bass with baked celeriac, smoked mussels, burnt shallots, green beans, bok choy and red wine jus.

Capping off this mouth-watering menu is a Ganzvlei cheddar and dolce latte with gourgères, crème, and roast fig, and if you still have space there will also be a selection of petit fours. Guests are urged to arrive at 7pm for dinner at 7:30pm. The dress code is smart and diners are required to please specify any dietary requirements at least 48 hours in advance.
