While Santa flies his sleigh around the world delivering gifts, you can celebrate Christmas Eve in Cape Town with dinner and a show at Richard’s Supper Stage & Bistro, a musical revue joint that brings to life the characters, cultures and flavours of the Cape.
Located in the colourful Atlantic Seaboard neighbourhood of Sea Point, the restaurant dishes up delicious local cuisine alongside a lively interactive performance of ‘Kaapse Stories from the Mother City’ – the tale recounts the trials, tribulations and victories of the rainbow nation through classic songs and comedy.
The Christmas Eve special includes a four-course Cape Malay-inspired (halaal-friendly) meal, a welcome drink and extra Yuletide cheer from the ever-entertaining Kleintjies Clan.
The festive dinner kicks off with a Greek salad and freshly baked baguettes followed by a quintessential Cape starter – smoked snoek pâté and a Malay samoosa served with roast vegetables. For the main, guests get to help themselves to a sumptuous selection of eats, like baked linefish, whole roast beef fillet or Richard’s speciality, korma chicken and prawn curry with white basmati rice. Each dish is accompanied by a choice of tasty sides, including chunky potato bake, vegetable breyani and cauliflower and broccoli in a creamy cheese sauce.
A sweet plate with malva pudding, milk tart, a koeksister and a skewer of fruit is the perfect way to round off the special meal, and guests are sure to leave with a content belly and a head full of wonderful music.
