Once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of Esther ...
On from February to August 2024; 100+ artworks
If you’ve been missing the delicate and captivating sounds of classical music, then you’ll be happy to hear that the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra is back to add some aural delight to your social calendar this autumn. The three-concert series of performances, which stretches from Thursday, 2 to Thursday, 16 April 2015, takes place at the appropriately beautiful City Hall and features celebrated composer Dmitry Yablonsky as well as soloists Oxana Yablonskaya and Janna Gandelman.
The concert is a platform for these accomplished members of the classical music arena to play to their South African fans, and this time around, concert-goers can look forward to hearing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Schubert’s Symphony No.8 and Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite. All in all, classical musical fans and students are in for a treat!
Dmitry Yablonsky
Before becoming a composer, Dmitry Yablonsky focused his talents on the instrument of his choice: the cello. Starting at the age of five, Dmitry made his orchestral debut playing the Haydn Cello Concerto at the tender age of nine.
Oxana Yablonskaya
Soloist Oxana (a professor at the acclaimed Juilliard School of Music) has played her cello in over 40 countries and is billed as “one of the most sought after musicians, recording artists and teachers of our time” . She is known for starting her career in music at the age of 17.
Janna Gandelman
Violinist Janna started her career at the age five, won a competition in the Soviet Union soon after and is currently the concertmaster of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
