Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
Fans of poor old Humpty and his nursery rhyme gang can see the unfortunate egg and his friends live at this delightful ballet that’s cracking onto the Artscape stage from Tuesday, 5, until Friday, 8 January 2016.
Naturally, this is one ballet with a ‘happily ever after’ ending, so here’s hoping that the king’s horses and men do actually succeed in piecing Humpty back together again. Aside from being steeped in childhood nostalgia, the show promises plenty of beautifully executed dancing, fresh choreography and humour to keep little ones entertained.
Run up the hill with Jack and Jill, sit on a tuffet with Miss Muffet, get washed out the water spout with the Itsy Bitsy Spider and help to control Old MacDonald’s unruly family of farm animals. Brought to the stage by the Cape Town City Ballet, the performance combines a glorious medley of dance with fun music and a fabulous fantasy world.
