A Steady Rain at The Fugard Theatre

The award-winning Broadway hit bounds onto this iconic theatre’s stage

The award-winning production of Keith Huff’s Broadway sensation A Steady Rain is gracing The Fugard Theatre after a sold-out season at the Alexander Bar. Catch this touching and gripping spectacle from Tuesday, 4 until Saturday, 29 October 2016. A riveting and razor-sharp story, the production delves into the twisted lives of two Chicago police officers.

Directed by Adrian Collins, A Steady Rain tells the harrowing story of two cops, Joey and Denny. The partners have been best friends for years, but their relationship has dark undertones that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the story unfolds. Joey is an alcoholic and secretly obsesses over Denny’s wife. Denny is an aggressive, racist and bitter man who regularly cheats on his wife. This devastating narrative and electrifying piece of drama will keep you captivated until the curtains drop.

With such a compelling script as sharp as this, it requires a truly talented cast to do it justice. Luckily, the two stars of the performance, Brent Palmer (The Kingmakers, Bench) and Nicholas Pauling (Clybourne Park, The Pervert Laura) are incredible actors with some big roles to their names. Pauling is a 2016 Fleur du Cap nominee for the Best Actor and the director, Adrian Collins, is a 2016 Fleur du Cap nominee for the Best New Director.

Described as “a cracker of a script” by the Cape Times, and “gripping theatre that delivers everything promised by Keith Huff’s award-winning play” by the Cape Argus, Huff’s play is a gritty, loaded and completely enthralling noir tale that is a must-see for theatre fanatics.

According to Daniel Galloway, Executive Director of The Fugard Theatre, “A Steady Rain is an incredible human story of two men. On Broadway, the play broke the record for the highest weekly gross of a non-musical production. Brent Palmer, Nicholas Pauling and Adrian Collins have done justice to Huff’s gripping text in this outstanding production.”

See the cast’s acting prowess for yourself – you won’t regret it. Be sure to book tickets quickly as they’re likely to sell out fast.
