The World Amateur Team Championships (WATC) - amateur golf's biggest international event taking place in October 2006.
Will be hosted at Spier Estate with the championships taking place at De Zalze Golf Club and Stellenbosch Golf Club. The event attracts approximately 1000 visitors from 100 countries including players, captains, coaches, International Golf Federation delegates and travelling supporters. Golfing enthusiasts around the world hold the event in high esteem. Many future professional champions have all participated in and won the event before turning pro, including the following global superstars: Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Michael Campbell, Annika Sorenstam and Kerrie Webb.
