8 Oct 2008 - 12 Oct 2008

The inaugural Cape Odyssey took place for the first time on 16 October last year. It started in Hermanus on South Africa’s Southern Cape Coast and finished five days later at Lanzerac Manor and Winery in the Cape Winelands, just outside Cape Town.
Full Service Race.
The Cape Odyssey is a full service trail running race. Race nutrition, water, and isotonic carbohydrate drinks are available at the water points to revive tired runners during the race.
At night, all runners and race crew sleep in tented race villages that are set up prior to arrival and taken down immediately after the start each morning by the race crew.
Run in Teams of Two.
All runners must enter as a two-runner team. Teams register in one of four different categories that include Men, Ladies, Mixed and Masters - where both runners must be 40 years or older.
The minimum age of participation is 18. The runners in a team must remain together at all times during the race. After each stage, the winners of the day receive prizes and the leaders in the overall classification their leader vests.
Focus on Runner Satisfaction.
The Cape Odyssey is organised and presented with the participating athletes at the focal point. Their satisfaction, well-being and enjoyment of the race are the organisers' primary goals.
The race aims to deliver an unsurpassed and unforgettable trail running and African travel-experience.
Therefore, it offers a 24-hour full service around the race, including tented accommodation in race villages, carbo-loaded breakfasts and dinners as well as masseurs.
