Saturday Psyde Show ft. Bizzare Contact
A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
Slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals all feature in the fresh roots pop sound of Robin Auld, who will be performing at Kalk Bay Theatre from February Wednesday 1 to Sunday 5. Well known to South Africans from his hits such as “Baby you been good”, “All of woman”, “Love Kills” and many others, Robin’s music has evolved from the pop sound of his earlier recordings into a contemporary mix of blues and roots.
Currently based in the UK, he has performed and recorded in New York, London, Glasgow and Nashville, opening for and performing with acts such as Lloyd Cole, Angelique Kidjo, Michelle Shocked, Jackson Brown and Seasick Steve.
His latest CD, “Fingers in my Pocket”, recorded in London, is an eclectic album of roots and blues song. African influences are never far away though, with a reggae song and even a Cape Town goema tune to pepper the mix!
For the show at Kalk Bay Theatre Robin will be playing acoustic versions of his old hits, along with a selection of more recent material, and might well tell a few stories too. Cape Town can expect a lively and upbeat evening with entertainment that will enthuse and uplift!
Tickets: R100p/p and the show start at 8.30, with Sunday at 7.30. For bookings see website below.
