Meet South Africa’s eight newest cabinet ministers
After four sold out performances in Johannesburg, Mass Hysteria is taking over Cape Town at the Grand Arena GrandWest. Featuring South Africa’s top eight ministers of funny, the laugh-a-minute performance is scheduled for Friday, 27 and Saturday, 28 July 2012.
When asked about the premise of the side-splitting on-stage act, co-producer and “Minister who swears to tell truth” John Vlismas had the following to say, “Mass hysteria is what South Africans are best at. Whether it’s a penis or a march, we love a reason to scream and shout; so, when we were let down by an event organiser, we decided to take charge and do the shows ourselves.”
Aside from a jam-packed line-up of SA’s comedy big wigs - Nik Rabinowitz, Marc Lottering, Kurt Schoonraad and Ndumiso Lindi with Tumi Morake, Mark Banks and John Vlismas - Casper de Vries, the man known for his solo acts, joins the team to create a stand-up event that will, dare we say it, likely have you wetting your pants.
With penises, plots, conspiracies and poaching on the bill, one would think this is a parliamentary session. So, if you’re up for a bit of parody – that is, a country run by comedians (wait...is that parody) - then get ready to listen to this multicultural mix of ministers lead the most riveting cabinet meeting this side of the Equator.
