James Grace Launches New Solo Album

The new Cafe Latino album is another feather in the musical cap of this accomplished Cape Town guitarist

Stringwise Records and SA Guitars, in association with Marcel De Reuck Wines, are proud to present a concert to mark the launch of James Grace’s new solo guitar album, Café Latino, which will take place on 24 October at the Centre for the Book in Cape Town.

Also on display on the evening will be an exciting new range of hand-crafted guitars from Spain, selected by James Grace and imported by SA Guitars.

Café Latino is a musical journey through Latin America featuring works from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba and Paraguay.

James was the first guitarist to win the Sanlam National Music Competition at the age of 12.

He has won First Prize in the South African National Guitar Competition, the British International Recital Competition, and was a finalist in the Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition in Malibu, California.

James has played throughout Europe, South Africa and the Middle East. He has recorded for the SABA, Britain’s Classic FM and the BBC.

Soon after leaving college, James spent two years in Doha, in the Arabian State of Qatar, where he taught guitar at an International Music Centre.

James performs regularly locally and abroad, in solo recitals and with various ensembles including the Sontonga String Quartet and with flautist Bridget Rennie-Salonen under the name Zomari.
