Imagine Cape Town becoming a major new feature on the international jetsetter's calendar alongside Ibiza and Miami WMC...
But this time instead of clubs imagine DJs tearing it up in exotic locations that include wine farms, beaches, luxurious mansions, film studios and waterfront warehouses. Sound good? Well this is just the beginning...
== 2009 is Breaking through already!!
Find the latest info on the global breakthrough festival 2009 in Cape Town.
Our newsletter brings you THE BEST DJ, Venue and programme updates on the 2009 fesitval of Global Breakthrough! ==
From 17th February to 3rd March 2007, a hand picked selection of the most exciting DJs, labels and brands in clubland will descend upon Cape Town to play in locations with dazzling live elements you have only ever visited in your dreams.
After a triumphant inaugural tour in March 2006, record label pioneers confirmed on the two week clubbing escapade include Renaissance, Global Underground, Toolroom, Azuli and Defected.
Pushca, the true originators of ‘glam house', will also be strutting their stuff and hosting a one off ultra exotic event. They will be joined by The Diamond Club, infamous for their secret villa parties in Ibiza and PUSH, from the creators that brought London the massive South West Four festival, will also all be out in full force.
Week one will see the best of house, electro and progressive take to the decks easing into the more underground minimal and deep tech house vibe as week two kicks off. Join the international star DJs as they discover shark diving, sandboarding, take a Huey helicopter trip down the coast and come to realise why Cape Town really is the Mother of all cities!
More about the line-up: Progressive house favourites Lee Burridge and Tall Paul will be playing the opening party and joined by Notting Hill Carnival King Norman Jay (Good Times). James Zabiela, a protégé of superstar DJ Sasha has become a prominent figure in the world's top 20. This 25 year old star will make his South Africa debut on 23 February headlining the Renaissance event. Regarded by many as the hottest young house DJ in the world, you will surely be mesmerized.
Poker Flat boss and minimal connoisseur Steve Bug will be gracing the decks at a luxurious private beach party in Cape Town. Keeping with the creed of Global Breakthrough that music is for the people, he will then go on to play to a crowd of thousands in Soweto's township.
The closing party weekend highlights will include Âme, the deadly duo responsible for ‘Rej', the most played tune of the summer on all the hottest dance floors worldwide. Âme will be joining Steve Bug and Circo Loco DC10 diamond Clive Henry. Look out for a very special surprise guest joining the line up for the last weekend.
Other DJs that make up this explosive line up include Cass (One half of production duo Cass & Mangan), Jonty Skrufff, Shane Watcha and DJ Spen.
