23 Feb 2007 - 25 Feb 2007

Plans are well underway for the 4th Design Indaba Expo, to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 23-25 February 2007.
The Design Indaba Expo is South Africa's premier showcase of multi-sectoral local design. Features at this burgeoning annual event include architecture, new media, jewellery, publishing, fashion, graphic design, interior design, etc. It is indeed the definitive exhibition to find the best of local design; quintessential South African productions - NO imports.
Thus far, the majority of exhibitors who showed at the 2006 Expo have expressed interest in returning.
The 2007 event will be the biggest ever, with 67 brand new exhibitors and many designers launching their new ranges and products at the Expo. There will be a buying mission of 10 international buyers, supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (dti), who will buy SA products for export.
Any space that has not been booked by 31January 2007 will be utilised by the Expo's developmental educational initiative, the Emerging Creatives. This is a platform to launch the careers of talented young students, 45% of whom come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
Some of the highlights you can look forward to at the 2007 expo include the world's largest wire-and-bead sculpture; an exciting new fashion concept where conventional ramp shows make way for gorgeous models who combine their display skills with dance, theatre, installations, live feeds and music; all-day South African music videos and short films on the big screen; live demos of DIY projects; the opportunity to design your own t-shirt and then have it made in minutes, before your very eyes; interactive design and art projects that invite participation from visitors, and several more innovative visual delights to indulge in.
