Join Dave Ledbetter and The Clearing for an evening of jazz music at Polana at Harbour House in Kalk Bay, every Sunday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
Dave Ledbetter, well-known Cape Town jazz vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, started his band, The Clearing, in 2010 and the team has received rave reviews since. With Dave on guitar and lap steel, Buddy Wells on the saxophone, Kesivan Naidoo on drums, Andrew Lilley on the keyboard, Shane Cooper on bass and Lee Thomson on trumpet, it comes as no surprise that their musical diversity is making (sound)waves in the industry. Drawing inspiration from a variety of musical genres, like afro-jazz, funk, country and groove these musos are making unique beats to accompany the tales of Ledbetter’s travels and his home on the slopes of Chapman’s Peak.
On the ground level of the Harbour House complex, Polana is a cocktail lounge built on the rocks andonly meters away from the crashing waves of Kalk Bay. Settle down to a crackling fire place, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot whales in the distance - during season - or seals playfully frolicking all year round. Dine on dishes like the hugely popular hoisin and ginger pork ribs to Mozambican style prawns, and for the less peckish there is a yummy selection of tapas to snack on.
