Sunday Shootout: Green Point bike race

The Sunday Shootout Cycle Race is set to take to the streets of Cape Town on every second Sunday of the month, the race will happen on Sunday, 9 June 2013.
While less trendy folks tackle Suikerbossie Hill in all their spandex-based glory, the cool kids will be racing around Cape Town with a general disregard for traffic rules and an unwavering desire for flannel shirts. Participants get to choose their own weapon: Fixie, Single Speed, Roadie, MTB and then compete against those in their class - if you’re not first, you’re last.
If you can’t attend this week, don’t fret, the cycle race – barring too many traffic-related deaths – is set to take place the second Sunday of every month.
Entry costs
Entrance is a recession-friendly affair: R5p/p. Entries open at 2:45pm and close at 2:50pm; the race starts at 3pm, and there are only prizes for those who come first in their category. Luckily, everyone else gets a pat on the back. Checkpoint/s will be announced at 12pm on race day on the Facebook group (see link below). Sunday Shootout Sunday Cycle Rules of Conduct
- You choose your own route and total distance will be 7-15km.
- No spandex.
- No change for R20, R50, R100 or R200 notes.
- First entrant to get to checkpoint and finish markers for the specific class is the winner of that class.
- Running traffic lights/stop signs is not encouraged, but will be allowed.
- Helmets, bells and abiding by traffic regulations are encouraged, but not compulsory.
- The organisers won’t be held responsible for any injury/death and damage to/loss of property.
- There won’t be any marshals, so don’t be an ass (#DBAA).
