Shed new light on the cultural attractions and artefacts of the V&A Waterfront after dark
Hair-raising fun in store at the annual Dragon Fly Motorcycle Rally
Get your engine revving with some high-paced adrenaline and a weekend of fun for families and bikers alike
This annual biker festival at the Kleinplasie Raceway in Worcester, a small and sleepy town in the beautiful Breede Valley, is coming around for its 4th year! Take yourself over to this part of the Western Cape and, from Friday, 30 June 2017 to Sunday, 2 July 2017, witness the little farming town with a big penchant for biking come alive with the roar of motors and crowds of cool leather-clad riders.
Bikers have a reputation for being intimidating and cliquey, but these are unfair stereotypes - they’re a sociable and kind folk who are also about giving back. This annual rally actually acts to raise funds and support for the community in Worcester around Kleinplasie (which is an Afrikaans name for ‘small farm’). Like everybody, bikers also love fun, and there are activities aplenty in store! Of course, we should make clear that the fun isn’t reserved just for bikers- everyone is welcome to this festive weekend, whether you are partaking in racing or prefer simply watching motorbikes race along from a safe distance.
The line-up of entertainment and activities includes live music from local bands and an in-house DJ, a Miss Dragon Fly Rally 2017 beauty contest, a Miss Wet T-Shirt competition (we will leave the details of that to your imagination), slow drag racing, games, and lucky draws along with the bike concourse. There will also be a braai area (wood will be available to buy there), food stalls and a bar full of drinks to quench your thirst.
Worcester is a charming miniscule town just 90 minutes out of Cape Town. It’s a scenic place with a great view of the Waaihoek, Witsen and Waterval Mountains; which lie close to Tulbagh and Ceres. The quaint town also has a variety of farms- wheat, fruit, grapes, olives, dairy, sheep and vegetables are produced around here. The local fare is therefore fresh, organic, unsurprisingly delicious and boasts the bounty of the Western Cape. You’ll find it along the picturesque Route 62, which is the world's longest wine route. It is absolutely breathtaking, passing through mountains, rivers, orchards and vineyards.
