Bobby van Jaarsveld Concert at Paul Cluver

The Afrikaans heartthrob is set to light up the wine farm’s open-air amphitheatre as part of the Hope@PaulCluver concert series

Any fan of Afrikaans music will undoubtedly be familiar with the one and only Bobby van Jaarsveld, a singer as much associated with his boyish good looks as with his beautiful vocals. Now an old hat in the music biz, the multi-award winning artist will entertain audiences at the gorgeous open-air amphitheatre at Paul Cluver Wine Estate on Saturday, 12 December 2015, as part of the Hope@PaulCluver concert series which raises funds and awareness for NPO, Thembalitsha Foundation.

Van Jaarsveld started his career at a young age, releasing his first solo album at the beginning of his Grade 12 school year. Titled ‘n Duisend Ure (A Thousand Hours), the album received multiple accolades and earned van Jaarsveld three Best Newcomer nominations in 2006 from the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, Vonk and Huisgenoot Tempo magazine. The album also reached gold sales status in 2008, after a repackaging and redistribution by Theuns Jordaan Productions.

In 2010, van Jaarsveld took a break from the music industry to play the lead character in the Afrikaans movie Liefling – Die Movie, which was released in November 2010 and grossed R16 million at the box office, proving that van Jaarsveld is not just a pretty voice but an acting talent as well.

In 2013, van Jaarsveld released his second album Net Vir Jou (Only for You), which achieved platinum status within eight weeks of being on the shelves. With catchy tunes and titles such as ‘Spieeltjie’ (Mirror) and ‘Net Vir Jou’ delighting fans, the offering went on to earn a double platinum certification.

The Paul Cluver amphitheatre is known for its beauty, serenity and towering Eucalyptus trees, which do much to aid the setting’s acoustics. Bring along your blankets, cushions, warm clothes and picnic, and revel in the tunes and croons as you snuggle up beneath the stars. The estate will have delectable food, drinks and wine available for purchase. Remember, no alcohol bought from home is permitted into the amphitheatre.
