A tour around the Cape Peninsula is incomplete without a visit to Simon's Town, a delightful quaint old navy seaport and the last town before Cape Point Nature Reserve. The highlight of Simon's Town is its Boulders Beach, just south of the old Navy Town.

This park comes under the auspices of the National Parks board and comprises giant granite boulders form several little secluded beaches. It harbors one of the largest breeding colonies of the African penguin.

Here these cute and endangered little creatures have found a safe haven with the result a stabile and healthy colony.

You can observe the penguins from the shore and the board walk, or from the water as the park allows you to swim where they swim.

Apart from penguin spotting, Simon's Town boasts many attractions such as the Naval Museum. Diving is good in the area of Simon's Town: When the south-easter is taking a break, scuba divers should explore Castle Rock a few kilometres on from Boulders, to see spectacular drop offs, lots of corals and surprisingly colourful fish.
