In its heyday in the 50's and 60's Muizenberg was a town of glitz and glamour. Today it has woken up again from a quirky, sleepy sea-side town. Many of the elegant mansions of days past still adorn the mountainside, and are mixed with side walk cafes such as Empire Cafe.

The sandy beach offers plenty of space for fun and games and facilities are good. Popular among families and young surfers. The long gentle waves are perfect to learn on and swim in. Or to surf: The far end of the beach, closest to Muizenberg, is named Surfers Corner is the domain of Cape Town's laid back surfers. Surfers Corner has always had its special place in any beginning surfer's heart, stepping onto the long board.

Behind the beach you will find a number of cafes as well as a Put-Put Course (miniature golf) and a few water slides.

A nice place for a little snack or lunch after a good surf, or surf  lessons , is the Empire Cafe across the railway tracks,, or for example the Olive Station for more eclectic lunches.

Fogey's is restaurant and bar offers live jazz and other bands playing there regularly. The restaurant is situated on the top floor of the pitoresque railway station. 

Muizenberg is surely waking up, with numerous developments on its beach front providing enough life for its evenings in the future as well.
