Not many visitors come to Kommetjie, as this village is more remote than other villages on the Cape Peninsula. Despite the fact Kommetjie has a lot to offer. Its main attraction is a beautiful, pristine, wide and long stretch of beach.

‘Long Beach' extends over 8 kilometres to the town of Noordhoek, and is ideally suited for long beach walks, kite surfing or wave surfing. The dense kelp forests in the shallow water are good grounds for snorklers and divers.

Apart from the beach, Kommetjie boasts the highest lighthouse on the South African coast. The sparkling white Slangkop Lighthouse became operational in 1919, is more than 33 meters high, and is entirely made out of steel. Its rotating light has a range of 33 nautical miles.

At the entrance to the village of Kommetjie a new private nature park has been opened where they breed buffalo and different species of antelope. The Selole Game Reserve also runs a good restaurant.
