Albertina
Visit the centre of the Aloe industry en-route to Hermanus and Mosselbay
The little town of Albertina route from Riversdale to Mosselbay was founded (like many other places in South Africa) by the Dutch Reformed Church.

In 1908 a big diamond was found close to Albertina on Aasvoëlberg (Vulture Mountain), which is why it became so well known for its ochre and kaolin mines.

Today the little town of Albertina is the centre of the Aloe industry, with Aloe Vera in abundance and Aloe products even more so.

The most popular spot in Albertina is the Albertina Hotel best known for its lavish and relaxed Sunday lunches – a treat for both locals and visitors.

Agriculture plays a major
role in Albertina, with the cultivation of grain (wheat and oats), dairy farming, sheep and cattle farming.

The Albertina landscape is evergreen bush, shrubs and scanty grasslands, with certain areas boasting Fynbos and Proteas.

Just outside Albertina you will find the famous Bukkenberg Welsh Pony stud.
