Oudtshoorn
Birds of a feather all flock together to Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of the world
The town of Oudtshoorn is well known as the Ostrich Capital of the World and is about 55km inland from the coastal town of George on the Garden Route.

This town, with its wide open spaces is the capital of the Klein Karoo. Oudtshoorn produces some of the best ostrich products internationally including feathers, leather products and meat.

The many ostrich farms are
popular places to visit for both international and South African visitors.

Another popular attraction in Oudtshoorn is the Cango Caves. The Cango Caves are one of the great natural wonders of the world, where several systems of spectacular limestone caverns have been discovered.

But its not all just about the big birds in Oudtshoorn. Other attractions in this quaint and mostly quiet small Karoo town are township tours and homestays where visitors can get a feel for the Oudtshoorn way of life.

Event wise of course every
year in April about 80 000 people storm to Oudtshoorn for the excellent annual Klein Karoo National Arts Festival.
