In Honour of Our Olympic and Paralympic Heroes and Heroines

The City of Cape Town hosts a celebration in tribute of our local athletes

Last Update October 12th, 2016

On Monday, 17 October 2016 Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille, Western Cape Minister for Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais and City of Cape Town Executive Mayor, Patricia de Lille will honour our local Olympians and Paralympians at a celebratory event hosted in the CBD and Green Point. Amongst those attending the parade include Olympic and world champion in the 400m, Wayde van Niekerk and silver medallist for 200m and gold medallist for long-jump, Hilton Langenhoven.

The joint merriment seeks to pay tribute to our local sporting heroes after they brought the city and its residents so much pride during the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics Games. All members of the public are encouraged to join in the festivities.
