Trapped by weather on Devils Peak Table Mountain
Tourists trapped on Table Mountrains Devil's Peak in Cape Town

Two foreign tourists spent the night on Table Mountain's Devil's Peak early August 2005 after a cold front brought bad weather to the mountain. A Metro rescue spokesperson said that when the weather closed in the pair decided to stay where they were and try to descend the next day.

Early on Friday they called for help on a cell phone and a party of 10 Metro rescue personnel went up the mountain to guide them.

The spokesperson said the pair had not been properly dressed for their mountain ordeal.

Whenever climbing the Table Mountain range one is advised to always pack a cell phone and the necessary emergency numbers, water, food and warm clothing as weather circumstances can change from one hour to the other.

Even though this happened in ‘winter', always take precautions when hiking up Table Mountain..
