Cape Town Fashion Festival's City Fashion Map officially launched
The Fashion Map forms part of the promotion of locally made quality fashion and lifestyle goods.
The Cape Town Fashion Map is the first of its kind in South Africa offering local and visiting shoppers an indispensable guide to hottest fashion, shoes, textiles and accessories in and around Cape Town - all local of course.

The Fashion Map forms part of the Cape Town Fashion Festival's promotion of locally made quality fashion and lifestyle goods and was put together and produced by clothing union giant Sactwu, who are the founders of the Festival. All the participants in the Fashion map were selected based on their commitment to produce and promote South African merchandise and fits in with the theme of the Festival 'Wear South African'.

The handy fold-out easy-to-carry guide will also be available at airports, hotels and guesthouses and the union hopes it would offer consumers and tourists alike, a new dimension to Cape Town as a fashion city.

Sactwu general secretary Ebrahim Patel said at the launch in Cape Town on Tuesday:  "We have to show consumers and tourists where to get a great fashion buy. No other city in South Africa has a fashion map. We're the first and proud to give consumers and tourists an inside edge as to where the best buys are.

"The map shows you a diverse range of stores, everything from where to find a matric ball gown to a suit to wear to a party," Patel said.

The Fashion Map features:
50 retail outlets selling South African made women and men's clothing, children's wear, accessories, leather goods and shoes;

30 of Cape Town's famous factory shops, which are retails outlets attached to a manufacturer. You can get great bargains on clothing, home textiles, shoes and leather goods;

More than 30 of Cape Town's top designers, producing fine garments designer clothing;

Home-workers and dressmakers (part of Cape Town's fabric history) who can provide that special evening dress, a wedding gown, basic home and office wear, curtains and bedding; and some of the finest tailors from whom you can get an elegant handmade suit or alterations to jackets, suits and pants.

It starts on 16 March, peaks over Easter week-end with a final activity on 1 May at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
