South African 2010 Local Organising Committee
All details on the 2010 Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Soccer World Cup in South Africa

Organising the best FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa is a mammoth task. As well as building and upgrading of stadiums and infrastructure, there are other aspects to consider such as ensuring the smooth co-ordination of the match schedule, transport, fan parks, stadiums, security, protocol and many other areas.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) South Africa is the specially assembled team of national experts in their respective fields, responsible for the organisation of the World Cup in South Africa. The office of the South African LOC (SALOC) is in SAFA House, next to Soccer City, in Johannesburg.

Essentially the 2010 LOC is the brains that have taken years of meticulous planning to organize a successful staging of World Cup 2010. From the minute the World Cup was awarded to South Africa through till the final game they are ultimately responsible for every function at World Cup 2010.

Key members of the 2010 South African Local Organising Committee (SALOC) are:

Danny Jordaan: CEO. A well-respected soccer administrator who played a pivotal role in organising South Africa’s re-admittance to Caf (Confederation of African Football). Many see Danny Jordaan as one of the deciding factors in South Africa being awarded the rights to host the World Cup 2010. As the Chief Executive Officer of the LOC, Danny Jordaan has the executive responsibility for the entire FIFA 2010 operation on the South African side and for ensuring that progress remains on course and on schedule.

Minister Dlamini Zuma: The South African Minister of Foreign Affairs since 1999. She was a prominent anti apartheid activist. She is expected to build relationships with African governments at the highest level to help build a more African World Cup.

Tim Modise: stepped down as the LOC's Communications and Commercial Affairs Executive in October 2008 to move back to broadcast, a field in which he is well-respected.

On 28 November 2008 it was announced that seasoned journalist Rich Mkhondo was appointed as the LOC’s Chief Communications Officer. Mkhondo joined the LOC from Ogilvy Public Relations (OPR) Worldwide/South Africa, where he was Managing Director.

Tumi Makgabo: Media Officer. Tumi Makabo a prominent broadcaster and journalist. She has interviewed world leaders ranging from Nelson Mandela, President George W Bush and the Dalai Lama amongst others.
