Sport & Fifa 2010
Whether you are Capetonian, an overseas tourist or you work for foreign media, to get a true taste of the 2010 feeling, as well as some fascinating factual information on the building process and progress of the new Green Point Stadium, the Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre is a must-visit.
The centre, situated adjacent to the new Green Point Stadium - the 2010 Soccer World Cup stadium for Cape Town - offers visitors a selection of great soccer treats.
A larger-than-life virtual tour takes you through the finished stadium that will host the Cape Town soccer games in 2010, while a fascinating multimedia theatre performance - The Greensman - is proving to be a hit.
Photographic exhibitions of Cape Town soccer history and South African soccer legends form part of the experience, and everywhere you look in the Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre you will experience the memorabilia and memories that all contribute to the rich soccer heritage that Green Point and South Africa enjoys.
The Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre is also running a 2010 lecture series (find this in our Cape Town events section), which covers various aspects of the stadium and its construction - we can highly recommend these lectures. Have a look at our Greenpoint Stadium image gallery to get an idea of what you can expect.
A number of excellent stadium tour options are on offer at the Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre. You can enjoy a walk through the new stadium itself, seeing the workers in action and marvelling at the steady progress being made. You can also see the stadium-in-progress from a special viewing deck set up alongside the Visitor Centre.
Also on offer is a captivating one-man play called The Greensman, which gives a thrilling insight into the South African and soccer history of the grounds on which the Green Point Stadium is built.
There are also special schools tours run in partnership with the Western Cape Education Department; these are free for all WCED schools.
The Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre is an initiative of Murray & Roberts / WBHO Joint Venture in collaboration with the City of Cape Town.
The 2010 Green Point Stadium and the Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre are available for stills, commercial, promotional videos or feature film shoots.
