Pezula, South Africa's leading developer of luxury property has achieved international recognition having won five of the top awards at the prestigious Homes Overseas Awards 2006, including the evening's overall top award for Developer of the Year (in the world), two other Gold awards for Best Luxury Development and Best South African Development and two Silver awards for the world's Best Golf Development and Best Sustainable Development.

Ivor Abelheim, Marketing Director, Pezula Group collected the awards at the glittering black tie event held at London's Dorchester Hotel on Thursday, May 4 2006, attended by the leading figures in property development, estate agency, travel and hospitality.

The Homes Overseas Awards, judged by an independent panel of 33 respected property experts, including members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and UK based national property journalists, have rapidly become the benchmark for the finest in international real estate and new properties right around the world.

Having already won double Gold medals for both Most Environmentally Aware Development (in the world) and Best South African Development at last year's Homes Overseas Award Ceremony, these latest awards prove conclusively that Pezula is a world-class luxury development continuing to strive and indeed achieve the highest possible standards.

The judges' comments on Pezula for the Developer of the Year award were: "...a sustainable development is taking shape which could set the standard for future resorts looking to combine luxury and sustainability. ...Since Pezula's conception, a focused strategy has been enacted, first to assist the return of the fynbos (the major vegetation of the area), and, subsequently, the return of the native wildlife....As for the properties themselves, they represent the ultimate in exclusivity and luxury..."

PEZULA
The Pezula development comprises a 1000 ha residential resort with 255 homes; a world-class 18 hole Championship Golf Course and Club; a luxury Resort Hotel & Spa; the Field of Dreams sporting facility; The Pezula Botanical garden representing all the plants found in the afromontane forests of the Southern Cape and its ecotone; and an equestrian centre, bowling club and beach facilities.

Pezula Resort Hotel is the first luxury resort estate in Africa, located on dramatic cliffs overlooking four kilometres of spectacular coastline and rolling sea near Knysna.

Pezula, an African word meaning 'up there with the gods', is located in the very heart of South Africa's breathtaking Garden Route, a natural paradise with indigenous forests of yellowwood and age-old ironwood interspersed with wetlands and coastal fynbos.

The unique appeal of the development has been recognized by buyers from all over the world, including a dozen international sporting stars who have homes at Pezula, such as tennis aces Roger Federer, Jonas Bjorkman and Thomas Johansson, golfer Nick Price and South African cricket captain, Graeme Smith.

The Pezula Private Estate prides itself on being one of the lowest density residential projects in South Africa. Since final environmental approval in April 2003 property has been transferred to buyers from across the world.
