This year's annual Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) will have the circus as its theme and will move out of central Cape Town to the Ratanga Junction Theme Park.

A consortium - Peter Hayes, who is the new creative director, former Cape Town Tourism chief Sheryl Ozinsky, Henry Shields of the Marimba Jazz Cafe at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Egon Klein of the Opium Group, Richard Gradner, and Raymond Bloom of Samurai Experiential Marketing - has been chosen to take over from MCQP founder Andre Vorster.

"We are really proud of the brand - it has put this tiny city on the tip of Africa on the gay map, after Sydney, London, San Francisco and Amsterdam," said Ozinsky. She said the party, which this year would become "an installation", was the primary reason 67 percent of gay tourists gave for visiting the city each year.

It is to be held on December 17. Tickets will be available at Computicket a month before. The MCQP attracts thousands of visitors to Cape Town.
