New Range of Boxed Wines the Ultimate Outdoor Fix This Summer
They're quick to chill, unbreakable, lightweight, eco-friendly and re-sealable, and they promise to be just the thing this summer

Distell, South-Africa’s
premier producer and marketer of fine wines and spirits, has created a brand new category within the local wine market with the launch of four wine brands in revolutionary new, convenient and 100% recyclable Prisma packaging.

The new Wine on the Move innovation is made up of four brands: DROSTDY-HOF, VINOT, Chatta’ Box and OBIKWA, which have been designed to reach distinctly different wine consumption markets.

The DROSTDY-HOF and VINOT Prisma ranges carry vintage varietal wines, whilst Chatta’ Box and OBIKWA feature more fun-loving, quality certified blends.

Making quality wine more convenient and affordable, the ultra-light, innovative 1-litre octagonal Tetra Prisma packaging boasts a screwcap and is ideal for active South African lifestyles.

Forty percent lighter than bottled wine, the new Prisma pack reduces packaging waste by up to 90 percent compared with glass bottles.

Over and above their planet-friendly appeal, these quality, pocket-pleasing wines are ideal anywhere and everywhere.

They are perfect for indoor and outdoor entertaining, and the ultimate for taking on hikes, picnics, camping and festivals – all favourite South African pastimes.

“Our innovation is a response to the ongoing and robust growth of various new packaging formats in major overseas markets where convenience and recycling have been the major driving forces,” said brand manager Shelley Ellse.

Ellse believes the new Prisma packaging will have a major impact on wine consumption in South Africa, growing the wine market by recruiting new formerly non-wine drinking consumers.

The eye-catching and novel packaging for the four ranges of quality wines is also aimed at making wine more accessible to new consumers by debunking some of the snobbery surrounding wine and at the same time turning upside down the perception of boxed wines as they are generally known to South Africans.

Prisma range:

DROSTDY-HOF
Known for its quality and versatility, DROSTDY-HOF lends credibility to the new Prisma category. The Prisma range brings three new varietals to the local DROSTDY-HOF portfolio, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé, DROSTDY-HOF wines which were previously only available for export.

VINOT
VINOT (pronounced with a silent-T) is a completely new brand developed as the hero or voice of the new category as it breaks through the clutter associated with the South African wine market. The VINOT range comprises Chenin Blanc, Merlot and Rose.

Chatta’ Box
Chatta’ Box was developed as a new brand with a cheeky sense of humour. The range offers off-dry, easy drinking white and red blends: Witty White and Rambling Red.

OBIKWA
Previously an export-only brand, OBIKWA is now available for the first time on the local market in the new Prisma pack. This range comprises four new cheerful blends: Crisp White, Rich Red, Blush Rosé and Slightly Sweet.

Estimated retail prices:

DROSTDY-HOF 1-litre Prisma wines: R25.99 – R27.99
VINOT 1-litre Prisma wines: R22.00 – R24.99
Chatta’ Box 1-litre Prisma wines: R 19.99
OBIKWA 1-litre Prisma wines: R 18.99
