The V&A Waterfront, one of Cape Town's most popular tourist attractions, is not just about big business. Small business is booming as well.

Many small traders selling local products - from glassware, woodworks and pottery to fashion, jewellery and foods - are doing very well. For instance, the 120 entrepreneurs at the Waterfront Craft Shed had a turnover increase of almost 18% compared with last year.

"Raising the standard of excellence in design and craftsmanship is actively encouraged," said V&A Waterfront managing director Derick van der Merwe, stating the Craft Shed but also the Red Shed not only provides hand-crafted items, but also job creation.
