AfriCamps Luxury Glamping Camps in the Western Cape
Experience nature in style with boutique camping experts
Experience nature in style with boutique camping experts
Inspired by an international trend called ‘glamping’ (that is, glamourous + camping), AfriCamps Boutique Camping is all about just that; glamping at some of the most beautiful authentic working farms and estates known to South Africa. Introducing the country to a fun new way of experiencing the outdoors without the conventional hassles of a camping trip, AfriCamps, founded by Cape Town-based Dutch business partners, Manou Bleumink and Jeroen van Rootselaar, successfully combines the serenity of nature with the luxuries of a starred accommodation spot.
Believing that the best travel experiences are often those that allow visitors to get up close and personal with the landscape, its people and food, AfriCamps – along with carefully selected glamping camp hosts – seek to create a unique outdoor affair authentic to the glamping site’s region. Exploring local farm-life first-hand, savoring traditional cuisine and celebrating fresh homegrown produce unique to the region, are just some of the unique experiences glampers can enjoy. Partnering with local landowners, glampers are personally welcomed by the owner and his family and are provided with the incredible opportunity to discover and enjoy the great outdoors in true opulence.
Each custom-designed boutique camping tent is fully equipped with a spacious kitchen and lounge area, two comfortable bedrooms and one private bathroom. Everything, from the furniture to the actual glamping tent, is locally made with a key focus on sustainability and educating community members to become skilled – in sewing, woodwork, welding, painting, electrical skills and more – through the creation of the custom-designed tents. This notion continues to landowners and the entire glamping experience as visitors are encouraged to explore and become involved in local farm living as well as learn more about typical South African landscapes and the magnificent fauna and flora renowned to the region.
Ultimately, AfriCamps Boutique Camping combines the flexibility of a self-drive holiday; the remoteness of a camping trip and the convenience of a beautiful fully furnished self-catering unit all under one canvas-roof.
Currently operating three glamping camps in the Western Cape; AfriCamps Klein Karoo in Oudtshoorn, AfriCamps at Kam’ Bati in Swellendam and AfriCamps at Pat Busch Nature Reserve in Robertson, glampers can pick their ultimate holiday destination or choose to travel from one luxury glamping site to another. Providing a diverse range of authentic, proudly South African rural experiences, each AfriCamps glamping campsite is as ideal for the ultimate friend rendezvous in nature as it is for a family vacation or even an intimate getaway.
