The Conference Centre with its three breakaway rooms and 430-seat auditorium can cater for 250 delegates. All rooms have breathtaking views of the Estate (North Bank) as well as the Helderberg Mountains.

The finest grapes from Spier's carefully tended vineyards are processed in Spier's own custom built cellar.
With expertly balanced exuberance and gentleness, talented winemaker Frans Smit reflects the local terroir, retaining the complexity and finesse of the natural fruit.
Frans joined Spier in December 1995, after completeing a 3-year course in cellar technology at Elsenburg Agricultural College, Stellenbosch, where he was the top student.
He has played a major role in masterminding and developing Spier's vineyards and cellar. An extensive R20 million building project to enlarge the Spier cellar capacity to 2 800 tons was successfully completed in 2001.
The facility, which includes a barrel maturation cellar, was built on 5 000 square metres. The cellar has a capacity of 2 000 tons for red grapes and 800 tons for white grapes. There are 40 red wine fermentation tanks varying in size from 5 to 40 tons. Each tank is equipped with a cooling and heating system, a unique feature in the South African wine industry. The Spier cellar also has a cold stabilization capacity for 100 000 litres.
The barrel maturation cellar can hold up to 4 500 barrels. The barrel cellar consists of four barrels rooms that can be separately temperature controlled.
The entire winemaking process at the Spier cellar is focused on achieving quality through skilful technological innovation. All winemaking and operational procedures are in line with ISO 9001. |
